My thoughts on Brett Favre’s Retirement
Is this it for Brett Favre?
If you’re a fan of an NFC team—and I’m not talking about the Minnesota Vikings—your chance of getting farther has just increased. A lot of sources are saying that Brett Favre is calling it a quite, a statement I don’t completely buy. True or not, it will affect more than the Vikings; In fact, it’ll affect the whole NFC.
The reason for him not returning has been credit to his ankle, which I don’t believe. If I can express my opinion, I think it was more of a business move. I think money has something to do with it. I know Bret is set…He made more than enough in for this to be an issue, but he still has advisers and agents who can fill his ears.
Think about it, everybody wants Brett Back: The owner likes him. Viking’s coaches and players like him; the league and fans from other teams like him as well. (I mean I’m a cowboy fan and I wouldn’t mind having him back! Not because I’m unfaithful fan, but because it’s good for the league. Not to mention it adds excitement to the game)
And there is no question he can get the job done. You know it, and I know it; not just you and I, but Brett Favre and the Vikings organization know it too. If you are Brett Favre, why would you do the job for less, knowing you’re the only perfect candidate for the job? So I’m not completely convinced it’s just the ankle. I think there is more to it than that.
And I’m defiantly not completely convinced that he is done! I don’t think anyone can persuade me into thinking so. Matter-of-fact, I predict before the season ends, Brett Favre will be the guy behind the Viking’s center.
His decision will affect the whole NFC
Nevertheless, his decision will affect the whole NFC. Whether Brett Favre decided to stay or call it “it” for the last and finally time, there is no doubt Minnesota will not be the only team to be affected. You like it or not, Minnesota is not the same team without Brett Favre. They will not be as good and as intimidating as they were last season; their offense will not be as dangerous and as efficient as last year.
With him gone, other teams will play them with confidence (I wonder what their confidence will be like). Every championship team has confidence. Without veteran players like Favre checking the head coach, the Vikings offense will suffer greatly, because of the conservative play calling style. Every NFC team with no doubt count themselves in.
What is your thought on Favre calling it a quite? Do you believe it? And do you think it’ll just affect the Vikings?
